All teams have finally agreed to revert to the old qualifying system for the Chinese Grand Prix next weekend.

After suffering a new qualifying which nobody liked in the first two races of the season, the teams, the FIA and the FOM unanimously agreed to revert to the old system for the Chinese Grand Prix at the meeting held last Thursday following the drivers’ and fans’ complaints.

The FIA released the following statement:

“Following the unanimous request by the teams we received today, Jean Todt, FIA President, and Bernie Ecclestone, representative of the commercial rights, accepted sending the F1 Comission a proposal to revert to the 2015 qualifying system. If approved, the old qualifying will be back for the Chinese Grand Prix and the rest of the 2016 season. Jean Todt and Bernie Ecclestone welcome the idea of the teams of revising the weekend format for 2017.”

The next Grand Prix will be held in China from the 15th to the 17th April.
