The session started with some issues on the car of Justin Wilson, who was not able to do a qualifying lap. The first contender to kick the track was Helio Castroneves, who did a nice lap, going provisionally to the first place, but his team mate, Will Power, took the chance of getting one championship point. Scott Dixon was one of the last drivers to do his two-lap attempt, he didn’t need a great lap, so the New Zealander just did a conservative lap, he will start on seventh, a good position to face the challenge. However, Helio Castroneves will be surrounded by his team mates, that will try to ensure the win to the Brazilian, and wait what happens with Scott Dixon. The great surprise of the session has been Sebastien Bourdais, the Frenchman has finished fourth, ahead of Charlie Kimball. Pippa Mann and Takuma Sato weren’t able to set a lap time due to their accidents on free practice.
