Lance Stroll claimed another pole position this season, this time on the street circuit of Norisring. He will start ahead of Callum Ilott and rookie Joel Eriksson.


Callum Ilott was the first one to head out for an outlap before coming back in the pits. Then followed most of drivers heading for a first lap. The first flying lap came from Niko Kari who led practice earlier on with a 49.677, beaten by his teammates Guan Yu Zhou and Joel Eriksson, the Chinese leading from the Swede.

Guan Yu Zhou was the first one to dip under 49 seconds with a 48.930 laptime. Sergio Sette Camara managed to beat his teammate when the latter pitted. Van Amersfoort drivers were quite quick as Callum Ilott, Anthoine Hubert and Harrisson Newey were in the top 5 halfway through the session. The Frenchman even topped the time sheets with seven minutes to go before George Russell went faster.

Prema Powerteam cars found their window with the tyres at the end of the session challenging Van Amersfoort and Motopark drivers. Ilott found his way to the top with five minutes to go and managed to keep the spot for several laps before Lance Stroll went 0.192s faster than the British driver.

Lance Stroll will start the first race on pole position ahead of Callum Ilott and Joel Eriksson. Guan Yu Zhou, Nick Cassidy, George Russell, Niko Kari, Sergio Sette Camara, Maximilian Günther -whose best time has been removed- and David Beckmann complete the top 10. These results are provisional are many drivers are under investigation for track limits.
