Guenther Steiner says the current domination period will end too with the stable regulations and also with changes in F1 2026.
Now out of F1 and not a team boss, Steiner gave his neutral view on the current situation where he notes that the current domination period will also end with the stable regulations that the sport will see in couple of years and also the changes to come in 2026.
He feels other F1 teams will catch up and the sport will stay interesting. He also praised Max Verstappen’s driving. “That will end,” said Steiner. “This is a period, in my opinion. I think some of the teams will catch up this year. Look at what McLaren did last year. They caught up pretty quickly. It can come at any race that somebody catches up.
“If the regulations stays stable, there is a limit in what you can develop and everybody goes through that point and then for 2026, the cars are new with the new regulation and engines, there will be a complete change in my opinion. I think the sport will stay interesting and the domination, obviously Max dominated a little bit last year.
“I think he’s in the best car and I think he’s the best driver at the moment. But there are other good drivers now and other good cars out there, which will be coming up this year,” summed up Steiner, who picked Verstappen and Niki Lauda as his dream pairing when asked which two drivers he would pick in his F1 team.
“I’ll pick Max and Niki Lauda. In his time, Niki was the man who could, you know, even if he was not the fastest, he could bring them results and he’s good fun, by the way,” stated Steiner.
