The organisers of Singapore GP have confirmed changes to the Marina Bay circuit from 2023 F1 season onward at couple of corners.

After a successful return to the F1 calendar in 2022, the organisers of Singapore GP have confirmed about track changes at Marina Bay circuit for 2023 and beyond. The layout will see a subtle change, but it will affect in its total kilometers and number of laps.

The changes are being forced in a way since the Government is working on the redevelopment of ‘The Float’ at Marina Bay. They are converting it into ‘NS Square’ – a community and events venue which will be a dedicated site for National Day parades.

The Turns 16 to 19 will be re-aligned into a 397.9m long straight now instead of being a right-left-left-right handed corner. The total number of corners then will trim down to 19 from the existing 23 as a result, with the layout reduced to 4.928km from 5.063km.

With the less corners, the total number of laps will increase from 61 to to 63 and qualifying lap times likely to be around 1m27.7, while race to be 1m30.34s – both significantly lower from the current lap times of around 1m46s marker.

The circuit is not to use the Bay Grandstand anymore due to the redevelopment work which is likely to start from March and to finish by end of 2026. The layout changes is subjected to approval from the FIA after which further information will be provided.
