There have been two practice sessions of 45 minutes each, on the first one, Ryan Hunter-Reay has set the fastest lap (1:18.6814), in front of Penske’s cars. The session has been red flagged during three minutes due to debris on course in Turn 9. On the second session, Scott Dixon has been faster, with 1:18.3145, Penske’s cars have repeated second and third, but nobody has still been faster than the time set by Dario Franchitti on open test (1:18.2). The second session has also been red flagged, due to a spin of Ryan Briscoe at the exit of Turn 6, but he has been able to return to the pit lane under its own power.
Apart from that, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports announced today that it has re-signed with Honda as its engine supplier for the 2014 IZOD IndyCar Series season. Honda Performance Development will supply SPM with twin-turbocharged 2.2-Liter V6 engines in 2014.
