Formula E veteran Stephane Sarrazin has joined the TECHEETAH team for the remainder of the 2016/17 season, with Tom Dillmann taking his place at Venturi.

The switch comes about after Esteban Gutierrez accepted an offer to stand in for the injured Sebastien Bourdais at Dale Coyne’s Indycar team. Bourdais will miss the rest of the season after suffering leg injuries in a high-speed crash at Indianapolis last month.

Sarrazin has been a mainstay of Venturi’s line-up since the championship started in Beijing 2014. He recorded the team’s only pole position at the Season 1 finale in Battersea, and won the race on the road before picking up a time penalty for exceeding the permitted energy use.

Dillmann made his Formula E debut in Paris, standing in for Maro Engel, and scored four points for eighth place.

“A positive solution for all those involved,” said Venturi Team Principal Gildo Pallanca Pastor. “With his experience, Stephane will be embraced by TECHEETAH and at the same time, the season will offer Tom the chance of gathering further important experiences with Venturi.”

Sarrazin will make his TECHEETAH debut in the Berlin ePrix double header, which takes place at Tempelhof Airport on June 10-11.
