So many weeks spent speculating about a possible sale of Force India. The team of Vijay Mallya denied it last week of testing, but the name of Rich Energy has entered the scene with great force.

Despite the attempts to clear balls out by the team, the purchase of Rich Energy could be completed during this second week of testing. The figures are around 200 million pounds, equivalent to about 224 million euros. Rich Energy currently sells its energy drink in 23 countries around the world, and the purchase of Force India aims to expand those figures.

The founder and chief executive of Rich Energy, Williams Storey, hinted that the future of his company passes through F1: “It  is the perfect platform for the brand, motorsport is all about a fast, glamorous lifestyle. It works for Red Bull”, Storey said.

If finally Force India is sold to the British company, it would be the second brand of energy drinks that becomes the owner of an F1 team, after Red Bull. It is not clear the new name that will lead the team. The intention of Force India was to change the name for this season but it seems that the future owners have decided not to do it until next season.

It should be remembered that the current owner of Force India, Vijay Mallya, is in the process of legal proceedings to fight against the extradition order that India is trying to obtain, due to money laundering operations.
