Daniel Ricciardo has tested COVID-19 positive which has forced him to miss the three days of Bahrain F1 Test, but he is set to be cleared for Bahrain GP.

Having missed the first two days of Bahrain F1 Test, Ricciardo will miss the third as well after testing COVID-19 positive. His earlier reports came negative, but the latest one came out positive which has forced him into isolation as per the rules.

The hope was for him to return to action on Saturday for the final day of Bahrain F1 Test, but Lando Norris will continue for the third consecutive day. As per the rules, Ricciardo is set to be cleared to compete in the Bahrain GP and he is feeling much better now.

“McLaren Racing can confirm that after feeling unwell from Wednesday onwards in Bahrain, Daniel Ricciardo has now returned a positive PCR test for Covid-19,” said a statement from McLaren. “Daniel is therefore continuing to isolate in accordance with local regulations.

“Under these regulations Daniel will be released in time for next weekend’s Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. Daniel is already beginning to feel better, and we wish him well for a quick recovery. Following this, we can confirm that Lando Norris will remain in the MCL36 for the final day of the official pre-season test in Bahrain tomorrow.”

After a solid outing in Barcelona, McLaren has had a tough time in Bahrain with cooling issues especially on the front brakes. Norris has missed chunk of time due to it as the team is waiting for new parts to arrive for the issues to get fixed.
