ESports-cum real racer Igor Fraga is the latest to join the Red Bull Junior Team as the Brazilian becomes the F1 programme’s ninth member for 2020.

After Red Bull signed up Indian Jehan Daruvala as its new F1 junior, they have their ninth member for 2020 with Fraga joining the fray. The Brazilian was already confirmed to drive in FIA Formula 3 Championship for Charouz Racing System.

Japanese-born Fraga has had success both in ESports and on-track racing, having won the inaugural Gran Turismo Nations Cup in 2018 and also the F3 Brazil Light series in 2017. He made his way to Europe in 2019 to race in the Formula Regional European series.

He finished third there as Fraga then clinched the 2020 Toyota Racing Series title – a winter racing championship. As mentioned, he is to graduate to FIA F3 this year with Charouz alongside David Schumacher – song of Ralf – and Niko Kari.

The championship has other Red Bull juniors with Liam Lawson and Dennis Hauger racing for Hitech GP and Jack Doohan for HWA Racelab. In the F2 level, they have both Daruvala and Honda-backed Yuki Tsunoda competing with Carlin in 2020.

The seniormost member is Juri Vips, who is to compete in Super Formula with Team Mugen, whereas the juniormost members like Jak Crawford and Jonny Edgar, will race in the Fr championships in Italy and Germany.
