Recently he was comentarist on MotoGP races at Eurosport television. The fact is that the news about his dead represent a surprise for everyone. The talented former 250cc rider fought the championship against Max Biaggi on 1996 and 1997. The german won 6 races on 125 championship and later he did the same 14 times on the quarter liter category.
After all this, he took part on 500cc chamnpionship with Modenas KR3, but his best result as seventh was enough to stay and he came back to 250cc to compete two more years. Later, in a desperately effort Waldmann joined Harris WCM Project on MotoGP championship, but that Project wasn’t good enough and they were condemned to rest on the back of the fiueld on every race.
The mes special highlight of his career was probably the British GP in 2000 were he won the race on the final moments to Olivier Jacques, all thanks to the rain as we was able to come back from 12 seconds from behind. Since he retired, he changed the bike for the microphone and joined Eurosport squad to transmite his passion to the fans. Anyway, Waldmann died this week for unknown causes.
