Australian Toby Price, breakout rider of last year, has been the fastest of the day and take the lead of Dakar 2016. The KTM pilot had a side by side battle with Rubén Faria who finished second. Joan Barreda is down to sixth.


The Dakar second stage had a lot of expectations after yesterday’s stage cancellation. The rider were going to drive in an 800 km track, which has been reduced to 450 km due to weather conditions.

Joan Barreda lost the leadership of the Dakar with Toby Price, today’s fastest. The KTM rider set a 20 seconds better time than Rubén Faria to take the win today. Third was Stefan Svitko who takes third place as well in the standings. He is followed by Sherco of Alain Duclos and KTM of Matthias Walkner as Barreda is 6th, 3 minutes behind the leader.

Paulo Gonçalves is closing in with his team mate after a great comeback from 50th to 7th in the standings.
