Alex Lynn scored his first pole position in Formula E in New York ahead of Daniel Abt and Jean-Eric Vergne.

Alex Lynn (DS Virgin) scored pole position for his first entry in Formula E with DS Virgin in New York. He was 2 tenths ahead of Daniel Abt (Abt Schaeffler) and Jean-Eric Vergne (Techeetah), the two of them only separated by 3 thousandths.

Sam Bird (DS Virgin) could only set the 4th fastest time in Superpole while Jérôme d’Ambrosio’s (Faraday Future Dragon Racing) car did not switch to qualifying mode and had to settle to 5th place.

The session was only disturbed in Q4 when Maro Engel had to stop his car on track, impeding Lucas Di Grassi and Tom Dillmann who had to settle for P10 and P14 in the end. Pierre Gasly also had a difficult session and would start penultimate of the race.

Nick Heidfeld was 6th on the grid ahead of both Nextev NIO cars of Nelson Piquet Jr and Oliver Turvey. Nicolas Prost was 9th ahead of Di Grassi who misses one opportunity to take strong points out of Buemi’s lead.

Frenchmen Sarrazin and Duval were 11th and 12th ahead of the Jaguar of Carroll and Evans. Dillmann lead Frijns and Rosenqvist. Da Costa, Gasly and Engel would start at the back of the grid.
