Dani Pedrosa gets his first pole position in MotoGP since Catalunya 2014. Catalan rider led the Repsol Honda Team one-two ahead of Yamaha’s of Rossi and Lorenzo.

In Q1, Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) dominated the session despite off have finish second, just behind Maverick Viñales. Petrucci, Bradl and Redding were in the battle for Q2 access but they didn’t get the time that was needed for.

In Q2, the different strategy that Dani Pedrosa made, was the key to have a clean lap and take the pole position with circuit record lap of 1:59.063. The two stints of Pedrosa where enough to take his first pole of the season and keep his momentum.
