Gary Paffett set the fastest time and will start Race 1 from pole position. Behind him, his teammates at Mercedes Wickens and Di Resta complete the top 3.

The lights went green and the Audis of Ekström, Mortara, Rockenfeller and Molina were the first ones on track. Dani Juncadella took the early lead but Martin and Müller improved his time, leaving the Belgian driver ahead with 1:43.549.

Paffett climbed up to the top of the timsheets with 1:43.010. With 5 minutes to go, Mortara was 2nd ahead of Rosenqvist. Wickens managed to steal the lead from Paffet after the time was over, with Götz on P2, but Paffett gained pole position back. Di Resta brought Götz down to 4th with his final lap, and thus making it a Mercedes top 4. Ekström was the first Audi on 5th, followed by Martin, Scheider, Glock, Rosenqvist and Green.
