Driving 90 minutes in the desert at high speed without a drop of water seems a bit crazy doesn’t it ? Yet, Adrian Sutil is going to do it on Sunday to make his car lighter.

Formula One hotshots probably didn’t think of this when they asked for a shift in engines from V8 to heavier V6 without changing the minimum weight of the cars. On Sunday, Adrian Sutil will not take

He will drive all 57 laps of the Sakhir track, located right in the desert, without any single drop of water to drink. As he told Reuters, leaving the bottle in the pit will enable him to lose 450g in the car. It’s not much but it could mean a lot for speeding up or overtaking.

Sutil also added that his size is a major drawback when it comes to racing. He is one of the tallest drivers on track and measures 1.84 meters, while smaller drivers like Felipe Massa only measure 1.66 meters and weigh 15 kilos less than him.

According to Suttil, the drivers who are built like him are forced to lose weight to compensate for the V6 extra weight. “I don’t think it’s faire […]This is not as it should be in Formula One because I still see it as a sport.”

Maybe the FIA should think about it twice when she impose new rules, they might force drivers to starve or to run a race parched, neither seems really good for men who race at high speed in conditions that are hard on their bodies.
