The Dorna, FIM and IRTA has successfully managed to re-schedule the postponed Thai GP to a later date on the 2020 MotoGP calendar.
With Qatar GP cancelled for the premier class due to COVID-19 restrictions and Thai GP postponed after the Government’s decision, the 2020 MotoGP season start was pushed back to April with the Americas GP at Circuit of the Americas.
The FIM together with Dorna and IRTA has confirmed that COTA will host the 2020 MotoGP opener on April 3-5 weekend as it has also successfully managed to fit in the postponed Thai GP to a later date in October in place of Aragon GP.
The Spanish race was scheduled to take place on October 2-4 but will now take place a week before on September 25-27 weekend, which is one week after the San Marino GP (September 11-13). In fact, Aragon and Thailand will be a back-to-back event.
The MotoGP race at Buriram will take place on October 2-4 weekend to start the Asia/Australia leg, with Japanese GP next on October 16-18. Due to the gaps in the calendar, fortunately, there was no other changes required to be made.
