MotoGP pushes Americas GP to November, changes Valencia GP date

The Dorna, IRTA and FIM has confirmed another date change on the 2020 MotoGP calendar as the supposed Round 1, the Americas GP, is pushed to November.

After cancellation of Qatar GP and postponement of Thai GP, the Dorna, IRTA and FIM has confirmed another change with Americas GP which was to take place on April 3-5 weekend at Circuit of the Americas has been deferred to November 13-15 date.

That was the weekend the finale of the 2020 MotoGP season was to take place at Circuit Valencia but that race has now been shifted to November 20-22 weekend, thereby extending the season by another week as Carmelo Ezpelata indicated.

The US MotoGP date had to be deferred as Austin declared state of emergency and disallowed mass gatherings due to COVID-19. This left them with no choice but to postpone. If all goes well, the Round 1 will be Argentina GP on April 17-19 weekend.

Together with that, Italy locked-down entire country on Tuesday due to the virus spread which made it difficult for many to travel out as situation went out of control due to the massive spread within days.

The statement from MotoGP stated:

“The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports regret to announce the postponement of the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, which was set to take place from the 3rd to the 5th of April 2020.

“Due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the event has been rescheduled for later in the season and will now take place from the 13th to the 15th of November. The Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana will therefore be held from the 20th to 22nd of November 2020.”
