Edoardo Mortara led the first free-practice session of the DTM week-end ahead of Robert Wickens and Nico Müller while no BMW made it to the top 10.

Edoardo Mortara led the pace at Hungaroring with a fastest lap in 1:36.673 for the first free-practice session of DTM. The Audi driver, winner of the last race at Nürburgring, places himself in a good position with two rounds to go. He is followed by the third man in the championship, Robert Wickens who was 0.165s away from the Italian driver.

Nico Müller and Mattias Ekström were third and fourth ahead of four MercedesART and Mücke– branded cars: Lucas Auer, Gary Paffet, Christian Vietoris and Felix Rosenqvist. Then, Miguel Molina and Jamie Green completed the top 10.

What is interesting to see is that of all BMW drivers, the best placed is Marco Wittmann and he only stands in P11 and that from P18 to P23, there are only BMW cars. Even if they are leading the manufacturers championship by a comfortable margin, this is not a good result for the Bavarian brand.
