MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi had its seat fit with Mercedes F1 which made the swap programme with Lewis Hamilton official.

Talks of a possible F1/MotoGP swap has been in the news for few months between Rossi and Hamilton, where the Italian would drive the latter’s Mercedes car while the Brit will ride the former’s Yamaha bike courtesy Monster Energy. This wasn’t confirmed until this week.

Even with the latest posts from all parties concerned, the date hasn’t been released which is said to be December 9. The circuit, though, is not clear but it looks like it will be Jerez. Everyone until now have been quite reserved with any details of the planned event.

At the current juncture, it is not clear which Mercedes car, Rossi will drive, while at the same time, the Yamaha bike for Hamilton is unknown as well. Only in recent days, posts have started to flow in about the swap after Rossi undertook a seat fit at Mercedes.

Hamilton, though, has already spoken a lot on the swap as he is quite excited to ride a MotoGP bike which he has wanted to for long. On Rossi’s side, the Italian has had a chance to drive a F1 car, that of Ferrari, with even a chance to perhaps drive for them.

The event will be first-of-a-kind for Mercedes and Yamaha, at the least, and so it is unclear as to what is to take place, whether they just drive on their own or go head-to-head in a friendly competition. All is to be known only when the event takes place, it seems like.
