Maximilian Günther joins the Formula E team, Dragon Racing. The German driver will be his new reserve and test driver. Günther already played this role last season as reserve driver of the Mercedes team in the DTM.

Günther has already tested his new team’s car. It was in the January tests of Formula E in Marrakech, where he left very good impressions especially in his fast lap times. Maximilian will also play an important role in developing the car for next season.

The German driver, apart from his role in Formula E, will also compete in Formula 2 with Arden, where he will share team with Nirei Fukuzumi. Günther comes from fighting for the European F3 championship, where he won several races and finished third in the final standings.

Günther spoke about his new seat: “I really want to work with Dragon in Formula E. In the rookie events in Marrakech, I received a great reception from the whole team and I felt at home from the beginning. The professionalism they bring to work impressed me a lot, and now I want to do my part to ensure that the team continues to be successful in the future.”

The German also wanted to praise the Formula E: “Formula E has become very big in a very short time, the current lineup with so many well-known riders and champions shows the importance of the series in motorsport. I see Formula E as an opportunity very exciting for the future, and I’m happy to be part of the action at this early stage”, said Maximilian Günther.
