Max Verstappen completes the ‘Max vs 100’ challenge in just 14 laps

Max Verstappen has achieved a new record by completing an exciting challenge at the Silverstone circuit, where he surpassed 100 amateur drivers in record time. The world champion needed just 14 laps, equivalent to 37 minutes, to accomplish this during the event organized by Red Bull.

This unique competition took place on a circuit specifically designed for the occasion, combining the Silverstone go-kart track with sections of the main circuit. With a lap time of about two minutes onboard a kart, Verstappen had to start from the back of the grid.

The challenge consisted of surpassing all 100 competitors, which included content creators, athletes, and enthusiasts, and each time an amateur driver was overtaken, they were eliminated. The participants had an initial advantage with the possibility to make a quick lap during the early moments of the race.

From the beginning, it was clear that Verstappen dominated the situation, overtaking 64 drivers in his first lap. ‘When I walked to the grid and saw where I had to start, it seemed very far away. But after the first lap, I thought, ‘I think we are doing well,» commented the Dutchman.

The driver showcased his professional skills, even at the start of the second lap, overtaking 75 competitors. The third lap saw him advance past 84 drivers, an impressive demonstration of his talent and control over the vehicle.

As the competition progressed, Verstappen continued to gain positions, reaching fourth place on the seventh lap. In the final stretch of the race, he managed to simultaneously overtake Zac Alsop and Lewis Osler with a masterful move, completing the challenge with a spectacular pass on the last lap.

‘The first lap was chaos; you wanted to survive and then it was a matter of hunting them one by one,’ concluded Verstappen, reflecting on the intensity of the competition. With this success, the driver reaffirms his position as one of the greats of motorsport.
