Mason Massey triumphs in an impressive finish at the ARCA West race in Portland

This weekend, the ARCA Menard’s West Series made a standout appearance at the Portland International Raceway, with a spectacular finish that left everyone in awe.

In the final minutes of the race, Sam Corry was leading the competition with Ethan Tovo glued to his bumper. The fight for victory intensified at the first chicane, where Tovo hit Corry while trying to overtake. Corry defended his position, pushing Tovo into the sand.

After this confrontation, at corner 5, Tovo again tried to get past Corry, but both vehicles ended up off track. At that moment, Kyle Steckly found himself in the lead, followed by Mason Massey. It seemed Steckly had the race won, but in an unexpected mistake, he waved in the last corner, losing control and going into the sand.

Massey seized this opportunity to overtake Steckly and calmly crossed the finish line in first position. Steckly finished second, while Hailie Deegan managed a third place at the last moment. Tovo, despite his two incidents on the last lap, ended fourth, and Eric Johnson Jr. placed fifth. Corry, who had led until just before the white flag, finished in a disappointing fifteenth position.

This thrilling finish not only left a good taste in the mouths of fans but also brings Mason Massey back into the championship hunt. This was his second victory of the 2026 season, having won at the start of the competition at Kern Raceway.

The main ARCA championship will continue this week in Iowa, where Tristan McKee secured victory on Friday, shortly after celebrating his 16th birthday.
