MotoGP World Champion Marc Márquez finished in first position the first day of testing that are taking part in Sepang.
Márquez set a time of 2”00.286 and was half a second ahead of Valentino Rossi. The Italian finished in front of Dani Pedrosa. His Spanish teammate in Yamaha, Jorge Lorenzo, finished the day in fourth position. Honda satellite drivers, Álvaro Bautista and Stefan Bradl, completed the top six positions.
Aleix Espargaró put his Forward Racing Open bike up in seventh place, ahead of satellite Ducati rider Andrea Iannone. His brother Pol finished ninth, in front of his teammate Bradley Smith, in tenth position.
Official Ducati riders, Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow, are still struggling to set fast times. The Italian team has to decide if they will race in the Open class, which could be revealed when testing finishes.
