Andrea Iannone has taken the pole position for the MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix. The Italian with the Ducati didn’t expect to fight with Yamaha’s for the pole.

Q1: Laverty surprises Crutchlow

In the first qualifying, Petrucci, Laverty, Crutchlow and Pirro battled for the top2. In this session we could have seen a strong Laverty who finished first ahead of Crutchlow who had some problems with the track limits.

Q2: Ducati on pole, Yamaha warns

In the final qualifying, the riders decided a two stints strategy against the three stints strategy that Dovizioso did.

The Ducati’s led the whole session but in the final minutes, Lorenzo reached the first position. The Ducati’s had to react and Iannone made the pole position in front of Valentino Rossi.
