Christian Lundgaard has taken another victory in FIA ??Formula 4 Spain this afternoon after wining Race 2 of the weekend in Motorland Aragón. A treacherous race, that allowed the Dutch to escape in the championship standings. Volegov and Viscaal complete the podium.
Again in this race, Xavier Lloveras (FA Racing) was starting from pole position. The Catalan maintained the first position but was overtaken by a maneuver on the outside in turn 4 by Christian Lundgaard (MP Motorsport) who made him lose the lead. Behind them were Nikita Volegov (SMP Racing), Tuomas Happalainen (SMP Racing) and Alexander Smolyar (SMP Racing).
Smolyar, who have finished in the podium on Race 1, would try to overtake Lloveras in the second lap, as FA Racing had been overtaken by Volegov and Happalainen, but touched the Spanish driver’s car, flew and collide also against his teammate Happalainen.
The accident was spectacular, and caused the red flag as the ambulance had to make an appearance to extract Smolyar from the car.
With 10 minutes of race still to be disputed the order was the following: Lundgaard, Volegov, Berets (Drivex School), Puhakka (SMP Racing) and Pujeu (FA Racing).
At the restart of the race, Bent Viscaal (MP Motorsport), who started from the last position and was running in sixth place, was able to climb to third position. Also her teammate, Marta Garcia (MP Motorsport) made a nice come back overtaking Pujeu for sixth place.
Finally second victory for Lundgaard that escapes in the championship with 50 points, second is Nikita Volegov with 20 points less, while third in spite of the accident, we find Smolyar 32 points down.
