Fabio Leimer has been the fastest in the free practice of the GP2 championship held at the Silverstone circuit. The championship leader Colletti finished in the last position.

Marcus Ericsson (DAMS) opened the timesheets in a free practice with constant rain. At the next lap, Calado (ART Grand Prix) improved his time and got first, and Binder (Venezuela GP Lazarus) and Sergio Canamasas had some trouble with keeping the car on the track. The track was constantly improving, and De Jong (MP Manor Motorsport) did the best time after 10 minutes’ session. Draft was also improving his time.
Unlike Formula 1, most drivers were on track, and therefore, the conditions improved slowly.
Midway through the session because, with an output of championship leader Stefano Colletti (Rapax), 23 at the time.
Both Carlins came very strong, and Nasr was second followed by Palmer who got third. Leimer (Racing Engineering) was the leader of the table. But Frijns (Hilmer Motorsport) with only 10 minutes to go stole that position.
With five minutes to close the session, Leimer was back at the front when it stopped raining at the English track.
With the timer in 0, De Jong was placed fourth, shortly after Julian Leal (Racing Engineering) took away that position.
Finally the top five was: Leimer, Frijns, Calado, Leal, and De Jong.
