Sweden driver Joel Eriksson will make his debut in the European Championship of Formula 3 with German team Motopark in 2016.

Joel Eriksson highly impressed last year, being runner-up in ADAC F4 for his maiden season in the category. He also raced in SMP F4.

GP3 driver Jimmy Eriksson’s brother states FIA F3 is:

One of the toughest series out there at the moment, and it will be a major challenge.

“I’m thrilled to be doing this with Motopark and I can’t wait for the season to begin!”

Like Harrison Newey with Van Amersfoort Racing, Eriksson will stay in the same team while stepping up from ADAC F4 to FIA F3. Team principal Timo Rumpfkeil comments:

Joel Eriksson has managed a seamless transition from the Formula Four car into the F3. He impressed us big time in that he was both quick and consistent straight out of the box. I believe we can hit the ground running and fight for the Rookie of the Year award.”

Eriksson is the third driver confirmed with Motopark in FIA F3 for 2016 alongside Sergio Sette Camara, who enters his second season with Motopark in F3, and Niko Kari who, like Eriksson, will make his debuts in the category.
