Jack Aitken makes the move from Formula Renault 2.0 to GP3 Series with Arden International.

The Korean-British 20 year-old driver had a brilliant year in 2015 winning both Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and ALPS championships with Finnish squad Koiranen GP, following Nyck De Vries’ steps. But unlike the Dutch driver, Aitken was not sure about stepping up to Formula V8 3.5.

He created a poll on his twitter account, asking his fans about which series he would go to between Formula V8 3.5 and GP3 Series, the latter winning the poll with 56% of the 1268 votes.

He finally chose to race with the team he tested with in Abu Dhabi, Arden International. He comments:

After working together once back in 2013, and having become close to all the guys here during the early years of my career, I’m extremely excited to be racing with Arden this year in GP3.”

He will join Jake Dennis, 3rd in the 2015 European championship of Formula 3 and the pair of the two might create emulation and a winning dynamic even if they are both rookies in the category. General Manager, Julian Rouse, says:

We had a very good test in Abu Dhabi as well at the end of the year, it showed Jack is clearly ready to challenge for race wins in his rookie season in GP3 so we are really looking forward to continuing our success with him.”

Aitken could be joined in Arden by Giuliano Alesi, whose participation in the championship has been confirmed by his father, and who is rumored to race with Arden.
