Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix for the 4th time in his career, equaling Nigel Mansell. Nico Rosberg completed a Mercedes one-two, although he is under investigation. Max Verstappen got his second podium in a row for Red Bull.

The race started behind the Safety Car and with full wet tyres for everyone. When the SC left after 5 laps, most drivers pitted for intermediates right away. Wehrlein had aquaplanning and beached his Manor on the gravel. After everybody had pitted, Hamilton led ahead of Rosberg, Verstappen, Pérez, Ricciardo, Räikkönen, Sainz, Massa, Bottas and Hülkenberg. Bottas spun and he went down to P13.

Numerous drivers spun in Abbey after pitting for slicks, including Räikkönen, Sainz, Vettel, Alonso and Haryanto, who was the only one forced to retire after hitting the barriers. Rosberg pursued Verstappen for a long time and was finally able to overtake him, but he wasn’t fast enough to catch Hamilton. Vettel was given a 5 second penalty for forcing Massa off-track when overtaking him.

Räikkönen stole P5 from Pérez with 6 laps to go. Meanwhile, Rosberg started experiencing gearbox issues which allowed Verstappen to get very close to him. Mercedes gave him technical instructions in order to solve the problem, so he’ll be investigated after the race.

Finally, Hamilton won in Silverstone ahead of Rosberg and Verstappen. Ricciardo was 4th, once again behind his teammate who scored another podium for Red Bull. Räikkönen, Pérez, Hülkenberg, Sainz, Vettel and Kvyat completed the top 10.
