Lewis Hamilton ended the second session of the day on 1st position, while his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg crashed against the wall. As opposed to FP1, this time the sun didn’t shine brightly enough and nobody was able to use dry tyres. Nico Hülkenberg (Force India) and Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) completed the top 3.
Daniel Ricciardo was the first one on track, 10 minutes into the session. The track was very wet but it started getting drier soon thanks to the wind and the sun. Nico Rosberg lost control of his car and hit the wall, breaking the new front wing they’d decided to use on FP2.
His teammate Hamilton didn’t jump on the track until the last 30 minutes of the session, which was led by Räikkönen, Ricciardo, Sainz, Alonso and Button up to then. Hamilton got the first position after his first lap, 0,645s ahead of Räikkönen.
The rain came back for the last 15 minutes of the session and there were no time improvements. Hamilton was fastest again, ahead of Hülkenberg, Räikkönen, Ricciardo, Sainz, Alonso, Button, Vettel, Pérez and Kvyat.
