Lewis Hamilton kept the lead in FP2 ahead of Red Bull drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen. Meanwhile, Nico Rosberg could not take part in the session following a mechanical problem.


Esteban Gutierrez was the first to head out as he did not run in FP1. At the beginning of the session, Nico Rosberg’s car was being fixed in the garage, it could be following ERS problems Rosberg complained about in FP1. In the early stages of the session, Kimi Raikkonen was leading from Fernando Alonso and Valtteri Bottas. In his first flying lap, Daniil Kvyat went wrong in the last corner and spun without much troubles. Half an hour into the session, a yellow flag was deployed at the last corner to retrieve some debris.

With one hour to go, Sebastian Vettel was the fastest ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Daniel Ricciardo. Rosberg, although being ready in his car, did not go out on track at that point. Meanwhile Jenson Button faced an engine issue. After staying in his car for ten minutes, Rosberg went out of his car again and was set not to go during the session.

Halfway through the session, Hamilton led from the two Red Bull of Ricciardo and Max Verstappen. As usual, the second half of the session was devoted to long runs while Rosberg’s car was being disassembled. Button suffered from engine problems on track but did not eventually pit.

Lewis Hamilton finished in the lead with a 1:31.660 laptime ahead of Ricciardo and Verstappen. Vettel, Raikkonen, Alonso, Bottas, Grosjean, Button and Massa completed the top 10
