Hamilton gets the pole in Montreal

Hamilton claimed pole in the Canadian Grand Prix ahead of Rosberg who has had problems at the end of the session. Kimi Raikkonen will start third. Sainz eleventh, Alonso fourteenth and Merhi ahead of Stevens.

The green light came and the good news that Nasr could participate in the meeting after the incident of the third free practice.

Mercedes became the leader from the start without problems but Rosberg ahead Hamilton, Bottas came behind, in the absence of 10 minutes the yellow flag was displayed in the first sector because Maldonado spun at the first corner.

Behind came the Sauber, Toro Rosso and Fernando Alonso made his first attempts with supersoft while the top of the table performed with soft.

Drivers with more problems were Massa, Vettel and Button, the three of them left the pits with a lack of 3 minutes.

Nevertheless, Massa had problems with his engine and Vettel could not get better and move to Q2 as also suffered engine problems.

Eliminated in Q1: Stevens, Merhi, Massa, Vettel and Button.

Nasr was in charge of opening fire in Q2 although it was Grosjean who led the session. All were on track except Alonso and Bottas.

Kimi took control of the session but his mandate had expiration since Mercedes returned to dominate with a margin of almost a second over the Finn. Although the time between both Mercedes was a few thousandths.

Sainz clung to tenth place but finally Kvyat forced him to go down to the eleventh.

Eliminated in Q2: Alonso, Verstappen, Nasr, Ericsson and Sainz

Q3 would begin with 7 Mercedes engine cars and only Ricciardo, Kvyat and Raikkonen with a different unit of power.

First out was Hulkenberg, followed by Kimi. During the first laps, the drivers warmed the tyres and after that, Hamilton put himself first and Rosberg had problems with his tyres.

Drivers were returning to the garage to change the tyres and prepare to face the last attempts. All of them tried to improve their time but few succeeded.

Finally pole for Hamilton in front of his team mate Rosberg. Kimi Raikkonen will start from third place.
