German racer Maximilian Günther will return to the Prema roster for the upcoming FIA Formula 3 European Championship. The 19-year-old driver experienced a positive season in 2016 by securing four wins and 13 podium finishes, and will be back for his third year in the series, hungry for more. Günther will line-up alongside team-mates Callum Ilott, Mick Schumacher e Guan Yu Zhou.

After making his single seater debut at the age of 13 in the Formula BMW Talent Cup, Günther ran in the ADAC Formel Master championship in 2013 and 2014 before joining the European Formula 3 scene in 2015. He is also currently serving as the reserve driver for the Mercedes-Benz DTM squad.

As well as his team-mates and opponents, Günther will be on-track for two rounds of collective testing at the Hungaroring (March 24th to 25th), and at the Red Bull Ring (March 28th to 29th) before lining-up for the 2017 opener on the 15th and 16th of April at Silverstone.

René Rosin – Team Manager

“We are extremely pleased with our driver line-up for 2017. We can rely on four really promising racers and the return of Maximilian provides even more value to the full roster. Running with us in 2016, he not only scored remarkable results, but also showed great consistency, keeping his name at the front end of the charts. We are sure that, with two full seasons now under his belt, including one with our team, he will be able to raise the bar even further. We fully expect to see him remain a true contender.”

“It’s great to be part of the team again. Last year it was our first together and we finished second in the championship so I’m really happy to go back on-track and go for the championship which is our goal. We worked really hard this winter to be in the best shape and I’m looking forward to the season.”
