Maximilian Gunther set the fastest lap of the day at Paul Ricard track for the collective tests.

The day before the FIA Formula 3 European championship starts, collective tests took place at the Paul Ricard track at Le Castellet. Maximilian Gunther secured the fastest lap of the session only at the closing stages. With his performance and Lance Stroll’s P3, Prema Powerteam places itself again as the main contender for the championship this year.

Mikkel Jensen placed the only Mücke car in second position as his teammate, David Beckmann, is not old enough to take part of the season yet. Joel Eriksson was the best rookie for Motopark right ahead of his teammate and new Red Bull junior driver Sergio Sette Câmara.

George Russell made it to a promising sixth position for Hitech GP in front of Nick Cassidy and Anthoine Hubert, second rookie and first Van Amersfoort Racing. F4 graduates Ralf Aron and Niko Kari complete the top 10.

Maximilian Günther: “It was a good test day altogether. We tried and tested a lot of things – some worked, others didn’t. But that’s what days of testing are for.”

Lance Stroll: “This was a good day. But the occasional strong wind made setting consistent lap times somewhat difficult.”

George Russell: “I have been driving on this track for the first time, and I am happy with my performance. Altogether I have been happy with all our days of testing. On all the days we solely focused on our own programme. The results were of minor importance. They only count tomorrow in the qualifying session.”
