Pierre Gasly was the fastest of the first session of GP2 Series at Sepang ahead of Giovinazzi and Marciello.
Cecotto was the first to head out on track for his GP2 come back. Those who might have been the most familiar with the track were Antonio Giovinazzi and Sean Gelael as they won an Asian Le Mans Series race on this track.
Drivers tried to learn the track as quick as possible and Pierre Gasly was the first to set the pace during the early stages of the session before Matsushita and King went faster.
Prema driver still went faster by mid-session, Gasly leading from Giovinazzi, Marciello and Ghiotto. After a ten minutes break, drivers headed back on track and one could see how long it was for them to get tyres up to temperature.
Gasly finished in the lead ahead of Giovinazzi and Marciello. King, Nato, Rowland, Matsushita, Ghiotto, Markelov and Lynn completed the top 10.
