Abu Dhabi-

Pierre Gasly set a stellar lap in qualifying session in Abu Dhabi and gets to 5 points to Giovinazzi in the championship. Sergey Sirtokin and Artem Markelov complete the top 3.

All the drivers went out as soon as the lights were out except for Pierre Gasly. Alex Lynn was the first to set a reference time before being beaten by those following him.

At the third of the session, Sergey Sirotkin was leading ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi and Nobuharu Matsushita, Gasly still in the pits. The Frenchman waited for twelve minutes to head on track to run in the gap.

As soon as his first flying lap, he claims the three purple sectors and goes almost one second clear from Sirotkin despite a DRS issue. After a quick stop in the pits, he re-joined the track for nine minutes among all his rivals.

Sirotkin, despite having set two fast first sectors remained behind Gasly but got closer with three tenths. The first lap of their second run was the best as we did not see many late improvements.

Pierre Gasly claims pole position in Abu Dhabi ahead of Sergey Sirotkin and Artem Markelov. Matsushita, Rowland, Giovinazzi, Nato, Marciello, Lynn and Evans completed the top 10.
