The Andretti Formula E team has re-signed Robin Frijns for the 2016/17 FIA Formula E season.

The Dutch driver took a third place in the Putrajaya ePrix, and has been in the points in every race he has finished this season. This has persuaded the team to extend his contract for a further season.

Team owner Michael Andretti said:

“Robin showed great consistency and talent during his time with us this last season. As dedicated as he is to our Formula E programme, we are happy to continue the development of his career. We look forward to having him back for season three and continuing to build on the competitive foundation we have set.”

Frijns, a champion in Formula BMW, Formula Renault 2.0 and Formula Renault 3.5 added:

“I’m a loyal person if I feel comfortable and happy where I am at. I stayed with the same karting team for 10 years. I enjoy all the people I work with at Andretti and I am comfortable with the team, so why change. With season three coming, you never know where your team is going to be compared to other teams. I guess we’ll find out in qualifying at Hong Kong. But I think if you enjoy the people you work with that’s most important.”
