After an hour wait, the organization confirmed the session wouldn’t start due to the bad weather conditions. The stewards had been removed from the track as a safety measure due to the electric storm. The session was finally cancelled when the helicopter was unable to fly over the circuit.

Pastor Maldonado was particularly worried after not being able to spend a decent time on track during FP1 after he suffered gearbox problems. The weather is supposed to get worse tomorrow, so it is not sure if FP3 and Qualifying will also be cancelled. Rain is also expected on Sunday, but it shouldn’t be as heavy, although there have been talks about the possible cancellation of the race.
