Hamilton won a second victory of the season and 24th in his career, Rosberg finished second – the second double row Mercedes. On the third step Perez, earning second podium in the history of Force India.
1, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes): “It’s great to see that the first evening race at this track were so many fans! I am grateful to the team Mercedes, it is a lot and worked hard so that we can win the race. This is my first win in Bahrain, and it took me a very long time to achieve this. The race was really exciting, Nico Rosberg fought superbly from start to finish, but the fight was very correct, although it was difficult to restrain. I managed to create a gap, but Nico was very quick on the softer tires, so I had to defend literally the limit. But there was a lot of fun, and when I crossed the finish line first, I experienced quite a relief! ”
2, Nico Rosberg (Mercedes): “I really do not like to finish second, but, without a doubt, today was the most exciting race of my career. I think our team gave all the fans of F1 exciting show. However, I hope next time to win.”
3, Sergio Perez, (Force India): “We were not quite sure what tactics to elect, and the safety car decided not to pursue a third pit stop. But opponents, especially Red Bull Racing, had a third stop and possessed much fresher tires. I think one more lap – and I could not hold back Daniel Riccardo. For me, this is not the first podium, but very special. I spent the entire third race in his new team, and this time everything went really great”
