Alex Fontana, the 21-year old Swiss-Greek citizen, completes the Jenzer Motorsport squad in the GP3 Series.
Alex has already participated in two GP3 race meetings with our team in 2012, and impressed with a creditable 4th place at Spa. He also drove in every one of the Winter test days, with the clear intention of advancing to the GP3 Series proper in 2013. His good performances gained him a lot of attention, with the result that Alex has been included in the recently announced Lotus Formula 1 Junior Team.
Alex was also able to gain the support of a large Swiss Motorsport backer, and also has the assistance of Pia Maria and Alessia Regazzoni, the wife and daughter of Clay, the famous Swiss former Formula 1 driver. This cooperative effort will be very important to Alex.
Now this is finally official, our GP3 team is complete with Alex Fontana, Samin Gomez and Patric Niederhauser.
We are looking forward to the start of the GP3 Series on 20th, 21st and 22nd February 2013 with three official test days at Estoril, Portugal.
