The FIA has opened up the tender for sole F1 power unit pressure and temperature sensors supplier from the 2021 season.

The current deal with McLaren Applied Technologies is nearing its end after the 2020 F1 season, having signed as a sole supplier of the power unit pressure and temperature sensor from 2018 onward. The idea was of lowering the costs involved.

The new tender falls in line with the complete overhaul of F1 from 2021 onward, where certain other parts are being standardised to provide cost benefits to the teams. So far, the FIA has roped in BBS, Bosch and Magneti Marelli as the sole suppliers for various parts.

BBS is the supplier of wheel rims, while Bosch has been roped in for high pressure fuel pump and Magneti Marelli for the whole fuel pump. The tender for senors, meanwhile, went live on December 18, 2019, with the last date of submission set for January 24, 2020.

The decision, for the same, is expected to be published by the end of February 2020. The initial contract will cover three seasons from 2021 until 2023. But the FIA has informed that it reserves the discretion to extend the contract by two more years in 2024 and 2025.

The governing body, though, will have to convey it by December 31, 2022. Further details is available on the FIA website and also can be found here.
