The FIA has released the final entry list for the 2019 F1 season which has confirmed Racing Point ‘s official name and changes with regards to Alfa Romeo.

Following Lawrence Stroll and co’s buyout of Sahara Force India team in mid-2018, the outfit was renamed as ‘Racing Point Force India F1 Team’ for the rest of the season with a new name was to be used from the 2019 F1 season.

However, reports suggested of certain names they wanted to carry which includes F1 journalist Dieter Rencken’s story of using the name ‘Lola’. With no breakthrough in that section, the team is to be known as ‘Racing Point F1 Team’ from 2019 as per the FIA.

The company under which it is registered is ‘Racing Point UK Limited’ while the chassis name will now be ‘Racing Point’ – the abbreviated version of the car is yet to be revealed. As opposed to running under Canadian license, the team will run under a UK license.

Apart from the confirmation for Racing Point team, the name changes of Alfa Romeo Racing was also made official along with the chassis name to ‘Alfa Romeo Racing’, which suggests that the team could do away with its pattern of naming it using ‘C’ ahead of the number.

The company’s name though remains Sauber Motorsport AG as an independent entrant and not a manufacturer, which could mean that it should continue to race under the Swiss license – although the confirmation is yet to come.
