F1 states it is working with promoters to finalise the 2020 calendar as it updates fans who have valid tickets for various grand prix events.

As COVID-19 pandemic wreck havoc all-through the globe, F1 like any other global sporting event, has been hit hard with nine of its 2020 events postponed/cancelled, while the 10th and another one looks in a spot of bother after recent announcements.

So far, races until the Canadian GP has been cancelled/postponed in official capacity. The 10th F1 race is the French GP at Circuit Paul Ricard but it looks increasingly difficult as the Government has extended its lockdown to combat COVID-19 from spreading.

The same goes for the Belgium GP which is scheduled for August end. The Government has suspended mass gathering activities and Spa-Francorchamps has subsequently suspended tickets sale. Both the races is yet to be officially postponed.

A caution from Italian officials regarding Italian GP – to be held in September – has been raised as well as they do not wish to replicate the happenings in Australia. Amid the gloom, the Austrian GP seems to be on schedule in July as the country re-opens itself.

The Government is slowly getting things back to normal and Red Bull Ring may be open to stage F1 races behind closed doors. While things get sorted, the sport has updated the fans regarding tickets, especially those who hold a valid ticket currently.

F1 states that it is working with different promoters to sort the situation and should post the 2020 calendar ‘soon’ – although they caution that with things changing on a daily basis, it maybe pretty dicey for them to fix upon the races until the virus has sub-sided.

Here’s the fresh statement from F1:

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 situation Formula 1 has announced a number of race postponements in the interests of safety for our fans, the communities we visit and the F1 community. As stated recently our intention is to start the 2020 season at some point this Summer.

At this time no-one can be certain of exactly when the situation will improve, but when it does, we will be ready to go racing again. We are all committed to bringing our fans a 2020 Championship Season.

Formula 1 is currently working with our Promoters on a revised 2020 calendar with the actual sequence and schedule dates for races likely to differ significantly from our original 2020 calendar. This will be published in due course.

As previously announced, we will utilise the summer break being brought forward to March/April to race during the normal summer break period, and anticipate the season end date will extend beyond our original end date of 27-29th November.

If you bought tickets for races that have been postponed or cancelled through F1Tickets.com, F1 Paddock Club and F1 Experiences, we are currently working with each race promoter on the transfer and refund options available to you. We are working at speed to finalise those options and will be in contact with you.

Ticket holders who did not purchase through those routes should get the latest information on transfers or refunds through their point of purchase, either the relevant ticket reseller or the promoter’s official website as transfer or refund processes may differ for each race. For races not postponed ticket holders’ tickets remain valid.
