F1 has announced a new Overtake Award – sponsored by Crypto.com – which be awarded to the driver with most overtakes throughout the season.

A new ‘Overtake Award’ has been announced by F1, sponsored by Crypto.com, which will be given to the individual driver with most overtakes throughout the season. It is a first of a kind in the sport, to celebrate one’s brave attempts on track.

The winner will be handed a trophy at the end of the season, much like how the driver with most poles gets rewarded at the end of the year, along with the F1 team with the most number of fastest pit stops throughout the season.

A new broadcast graphic will also be introduced from Belgian GP onward, which will signal overtaking possibilities and also potential moves. Additionally, there will be further branded content from Crypto.com, across the social media and digital platforms.

The company already partners with F1 for the Sprint Qualifying events. The Silverstone race saw its brand being carried in the parade truck, and it will be seen at Monza and also Interlagos – the other two venues for the trial format to run.

At the halfway mark, it is Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel leading the overtake chart. Upon the announcement, Ben Pincus, Director of Commercial Partnerships at F1 said: “We’re delighted to be expanding our partnership with Crypto.com as we introduce the Overtake Award which will integrate the brand into Formula 1 throughout the season, in addition to the title partnership of the F1 Sprint Events.

“The Crypto.com Overtake Award gives us the chance to celebrate drivers’ instincts to make bold and strategic moves which reflects the qualities needed when dealing in cryptocurrency.” At the same time, Steve Kalifowitz, CMO of Crypto.com, added:

“We are extremely proud to be introducing a first of its kind award to Formula 1. We strive to create partnerships that deliver win-win-win opportunities and I can’t think of a more perfect opportunity than the Crypto.com Overtake Award.

“This award allows our values to shine through celebrating the moments where drivers exhibit the bravery required to get ahead. This season has already seen some amazing overtakes, and I can’t wait to see who this year’s champion is.”
