Joel Eriksson has been the fastest in free practice for the FIA ?Formula 3 European championship at the Hungaroring, the fourth round of the championship. Point’s leader was followed by the Prema Powerteam drivers Ilott and Zhou.

After a month break, the FIA?? Formula 3 European championship began this afternoon’s free practice at the Hungaroring circuit. The first practice began in wet conditions but track dry out quickly.

Force India junior driver, Jehan Daruvala (Carlin) set the fastest time with a 1:36.073, seven hundredths of second quicker than British Jake Hughes (Hitech GP) and Lando Norris (Carlin).

On fourth position was the Pau Grand Prix winner, Maximilian Günther (Prema Powerteam) followed by Ralf Aron (Hitech GP) and rookie Joey Mawson (Van Amersfoort Racing). In a surprising seventh ended David Beckmann who arrives in Budapest after leaving the Van Amersfoort Racing and joining Motopark.

Everyone improved the lap times in the second session practice, with championship leader Joel Eriksson (Motopark) taking the fastest time with a 1:34,987, finishing ahead of Prema Powerteam of Callum Ilott and Guanyu Zhou.

The stwards have been outstanding all the time dealing with the limits of the track, and this has led to disqualification of time (ie prohibition to go out on track) for Ferdinand Habsburg (Carlin), Tadasuke Makino (Hitech GP), Daruvala and Maximilian Günther.
