Zak Brown highlights the possible return of Christian Horner to Formula 1

Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren Racing, has expressed that he would be “surprised” if Christian Horner, former director of the Red Bull team, did not return to Formula 1 in the future. Horner has had a long career in the championship, leading the Milton Keynes outfit for two decades, which has allowed him to achieve six drivers’ titles and eight constructors’ titles.

Horner’s situation took a turn after the death of Dietrich Mateschitz, co-founder of Red Bull, as well as the departure of key figures from the team, including Adrian Newey. He has also been affected by an internal investigation related to inappropriate behavior, although he was not found guilty. Last summer, Horner was dismissed, but it has been speculated that he is seeking new opportunities in F1.

One possible destination is Alpine, which is currently for sale with the intention of raising capital. Horner has been mentioned as one of the potential buyers within a consortium. Brown, commenting on his absence from Formula 1, emphasized that Horner has always been a big personality in the competition.

“It would be great to see Christian back. His experience and passion for the sport can be very valuable. Given his commitment, I would be surprised if he didn’t return, whether at Alpine or another team,” stated Brown.

Furthermore, with the recent departure of Gianpiero Lambiase, Red Bull’s race engineer, to McLaren, the Austrian team is facing a new challenge in its management structure. Brown detailed that Lambiase will take on a key role at McLaren, where he will report directly to the current team principal, Andrea Stella.
