Yifei Ye makes history, first ever Chinese driver to set a pole position in Eurocup FR2.0

Chinese driver Yifei Ye has conquered the first qualifying session in Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup in Monza. Kaufmann driver has no rival in his group and confirmed his chances on tittle battle.

Qualifying session began with group A on track. In the early stages, Oscar Piastri (Arden Motorsport) was in the lead, despite his compatriot Max Fewtrell (R-ace GP) beat him quickly.

Renault Junior Driver improved his lap-time setting the provisional pole position with a time of 1:49.629. But He was penalized because of track limits. Tech 1 Racing driver, Alexander Smolyar lap-time was delated as well.

This let Lorenzo Colombo (JD Motorsport) be in provisional Pole Position with a lap-time to beat of 1:49.810.

At the start of group B, Spanish driver Xavier Lloveras (AVF) was first to set a lap time. It was immediately defeated by Frenchman Thomas Neubauer.

Then, Chinese Yifei Ye (Josef Kaufmann Racing) set four spectacular laps to get Pole Position with a time of 1:49.089.

Historic day in the category. Ye is the first ever Chinese driver to set a Pole Position in Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup.
