Yamaha announces Jorge Martín and Ai Ogura as factory riders for 2027

Yamaha has confirmed this Wednesday the entry of Jorge Martín and Ai Ogura as riders for their MotoGP team for the next two seasons. This decision comes shortly after the Japanese brand announced the departure of Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins, leaving Honda and KTM as the only brands yet to confirm their teams for the 2027 season.

Paolo Pavesio, Yamaha’s competition director, expressed his satisfaction with the addition of the two riders, highlighting that having them on the team demonstrates ambition and confidence in the new project. Martín, recently crowned world champion, has shown to be one of the best MotoGP riders, despite a complex previous stint with Aprilia.

On the other hand, Ogura has experienced a peak moment, as he recently achieved his first victory in MotoGP, becoming the first Japanese rider to win a MotoGP race in 22 years. This milestone is a point of pride for Yamaha, as Ogura will become their first Japanese rider on the factory team.

With this new lineup, Yamaha hopes to recover lost ground in the championship and improve their performances, confident in the talent and determination of Martín and Ogura. Meanwhile, rumors about future moves in other MotoGP teams continue to fuel the spectacle. In particular, KTM is preparing to announce the additions of Alex Márquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio, while Honda is still to confirm Quartararo’s entry into their team.
