Maverick Viñales was the fastest on track followed by his teammate Valentino Rossi.
If yesterday, Dani Pedrosa was who dominated with his Honda, in a day marked by the rain, today the Yamaha have put in front of the grid. Maverick Viñales took the best time of the session marking a 1: 59: 355. This time is a litlle bit faster than the one Dani Pedrosa got yesterday. Valentino Rossi has been very close, rolling in the same tenth as Maverick. The Italian has scored a 1: 59: 390, showing the equality between the two Yamaha riders.
The Japanese team is focusing on correctly adjusting the engines of its two pilots. Today, they were running with two different configurations and the two specifications have worked perfectly. The management of the tires is also one of their priorities in these first days of preseason.
Lorenzo and his Ducati have been classified fourth, to one tenth behind of the Yamaha drivers. Ducati wants to end one of his main problems last year, the braking, and they have focused on this in the tests. Today they have assembled new parts that seem to have improve the stability of the bike and for the session on Tuesday they want to do a race simulation.
The Repsol Honda have not had their best day in Sepang. The best classified was Marc Márquez, who was unable to move from seventh place, rolling to 3 tenths of Maverick. Pedrosa, who marked the best time yesterday, he could only be in the twelve position. The team is still on track to find the ideal aerodynamic fairing and improving their Honda engines.
The negative note of the day was signed by Pol Espargaró. The Red Bull KTM driver fell in turn four, suffering a major blow that has made him go through the medical service and could not drive anymore.
